- Example: If the posting says it closes on January 16, the job will close on January 15 at 11:59 p.m.
- Some jobs are posted “continuous,” meaning they remain open until filled and may close at any date at 11:59 p.m.
Tip: Apply as soon as possible to avoid missing the opportunity.

- The list of schools is comprehensive and because of this you must type in and search for your school’s name.
- Try searching for your school using part of all of the name (example: “University of Nebraska–Lincoln” or “Nebraska” instead of “UNL”) and then hit enter.
- If it still doesn’t appear, type in “School Not Found” and hit enter.
- Please note the “x” icon and trashcan icon in case you need to clear the box and re-enter your education.
- Education is not a required field on the application. We recommend uploading a resume with your application to help fill in details that may be missing.
We recommend uploading a PDF or Word document of your resume as these are the most compatible with our system. We do not recommend uploading links or resumes that are password protected as we may not be able to access necessary information for our review.
State Agencies may ask additional questions on the application to ensure everyone meets eligibility requirements.
There are a couple of reasons your application may be erroring as you try to move to the next section.

To move forward in the hiring process, applicants must meet the minimum qualifications (MQs) outlined in the job posting. A member of the hiring team reviews each application to determine if the MQs are met. If your application does not meet the MQs, you will be notified by email.
Tip: Make sure your application and resume are accurate and complete. Your work history and education should clearly show how you meet the MQs.
Per Nebraska State Statute, Personnel Rules and Labor Contracts applicants must meet the established qualifications in order to be considered for employment with the State.
The State of Nebraska generally does not sponsor individuals for employment. During the application process, all candidates are asked whether they require sponsorship now or may require it in the future. It is important to answer this question honestly, as it may impact an offer or future employment consideration.
If you currently hold work authorization through sponsorship but will require additional or continued sponsorship in the future, you must answer “Yes” to the sponsorship question.
If you would like to provide additional context regarding your sponsorship needs, you may send your explanation to state.jobs@nebraska.gov. We will share this information with the recruiter for the positions to which you have applied.
Unless you have received an email stating you are no longer under consideration—your application is still active. Jobs are often reposted for reasons such as increasing visibility or a change in agency needs. Please note that some postings may look similar but are actually separate job opportunities.
- The hiring team reviews your application to confirm you meet the MQs.
- If you qualify, your application remains under consideration.
- The hiring team will then complete additional screening to determine next steps, which may include phone screens, assessments, and/or interviews.
